Terms of use

The terms on which QuantityWise is provided. Last updated 2026-09-18.

1. Estimates, not specifications

Everything on this site is a planning estimate. The calculators apply general rules to the numbers you type in; they cannot see your building, your substrate, your material, or the conditions you are working in. Quantities produced here are a starting point for a conversation with your supplier, not an order you should place without checking.

Before ordering, verify against the technical data sheet for the specific product you are buying. Manufacturers differ, and their figure for their product is always the authority over any general figure published here.

2. Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is engineering, surveying, building control or legal advice. In particular, we do not advise on structural matters — foundations, retaining structures, load-bearing walls, spans, or anything carrying a building — and the concrete calculator produces a volume, not a structural specification. Work of that kind should be designed by a suitably qualified professional.

Building regulations, fixing centres, fire and moisture requirements and health and safety obligations vary by country, region and building. They take precedence over anything on this site, in every case.

3. No warranty

The site and its content are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We take reasonable care over the figures published here and correct errors when they are pointed out, but we do not warrant that the site is free of error or that any result is suitable for your situation.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its results — including the cost of over-ordered or under-ordered material, delays, wasted labour, or consequential loss. You remain responsible for checking quantities before you buy and for the work you carry out.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

5. Your use of the site

You may use the calculators freely for personal and commercial estimating, including in quotations you give to your own clients. You may not:

Quoting a figure with a link back to the page it came from is welcome and needs no permission.

6. Intellectual property

The text, reference tables, calculation methods as expressed here, code and design of this site are our copyright, except where stated otherwise. Underlying physical facts and arithmetic are not, and we make no claim over them — the formula for grout volume is geometry, and belongs to everyone.

7. Advertising

The site carries third-party advertising, described in the privacy policy. We do not control the content of the ads served and their appearance here is not an endorsement. If you see an ad that is misleading or inappropriate, please tell us — we can report it.

8. External links

Links to manufacturers, standards bodies and other resources are provided for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time. Figures and methods are revised as better information arrives; material revisions are dated on the page they affect.

10. Changes to these terms

Updated terms are published on this page with a new date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
